AutoCAD utilizes an object oriented programming (OOP) conceptual framework, which is presented to the user as a hierarchical tree. The software is logically divided into various levels. The top-level of the conceptual framework contains the nodes. Each node is a conceptual representation of an object in the software. Every node has a unique node ID. This number is used to identify each node uniquely in the hierarchical tree.
