AutoCAD is designed to facilitate the creation of 2D drawings and designs, to allow for an integrated approach to design and drafting. Users can plan and design projects using the drawing commands and tools of AutoCAD. In addition to a basic 2D drafting feature, AutoCAD has built-in 3D modeling and animation, plotters, Web publishing tools and 3D data conversion. Due to its extensive user base and support, AutoCAD is one of the most widely used CAD applications in the world. AutoCAD 2016 AutoCAD 2016 was released in August 2015. History AutoCAD was originally based on the Drawwright drawing program, developed in 1972 at the University of Minnesota. The original name of the program was Drawwright by the University of Minnesota. Drawwright was originally a superposition-based solid modeling program. In the mid-1970s, Drawwright evolved into the first true CAD system, which stored models in an encoded form to speed up drawing. By 1983, Autodesk had purchased Drawwright’s software, drawings, and intellectual property. The new company continued development and named the new product AutoCAD. It was released to the public in 1985. The software allowed for more automated drawing features, making AutoCAD the first true CAD program. By the early 1990s, AutoCAD had established itself as a market leader. In 1991, Autodesk (then Infragistics) was bought by NDI and then bought by Autodesk in 1993. Autodesk continues to own and support AutoCAD and other products in the CAD market. Autodesk divested its original AutoCAD products to Corel in 2002, along with the other products in the CAD market, which were now owned by Corel. Corel moved the software to its CINEMA 4D CAD application. The majority of features from Corel CINEMA 4D CAD were later rolled back into AutoCAD. In July 2007, the company bought German multi-user developer Wacom, which later became part of Siemens VDO, for $600 million, and opened a new sales office in San Jose, California. The second Autodesk AutoCAD was created by Timothy Hietbrink, now known as Timothy Hietbrink of Hietbrink Architecture. The new version, AutoCAD R14, was released in 2007. The latest version of AutoCAD, AutoCAD LT 2013, was announced at the Professional Workflow Summit in October 2010. It was released to manufacturing and construction companies on October 24, 2010. Applications AutoCAD is used to create, edit and manage most aspects of 2D and 3D architectural and engineering drawings. It is also used to create construction documents for architectural, structural, civil engineering, and surveying projects. AutoCAD has a free student version available with no time restrictions. The free edition is available from Autodesk’s Student Program. A student license is available for as little as US$500, depending af5dca3d97

Corner Detection and Adjustments: Detect complex intersections, lines and regions, add and remove segments, and rotate, expand or shrink segments or closed shapes. Use edge detection to fix missing or inaccurate lines. (video: 1:45 min.) Closed Shapes in the Lines Drawing Model: Create and manipulate closed shapes such as ellipses, circles and other closed polygons. Create a closed shape using the M shape tool and then move, adjust and snap to the selected location. Add fill and other styles to closed shapes. (video: 1:50 min.) Drafting Beads: Create designer marks that appear as 3D beads that can be adjusted along a path or as marks on the surface of a model. (video: 2:30 min.) Enhanced Extrusion and Sheet Metal Tools: Simplify and customize tool behavior. Use modifier keys for repeated actions. (video: 2:15 min.) Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T): Add and edit GD&T text for exact measurements. Easily change the text color or style and font. Apply corrections to align the dimension text, and tag the dimension location with a unique identifier. (video: 2:30 min.) Convert Paths to Polylines: Extract segments from a path into a new layer. Combine segments or create one large polyline from several paths. Change the style, color, line width and line cap of the polyline. (video: 2:15 min.) Tag Tool: Add unique identifiers to point, line, polyline, region and polygon drawings. Tag tools allow you to identify specific parts of your model. Easily identify points or segments, apply a tag to a layer, remove a tag from a layer, and apply a tag to a drawing. (video: 2:15 min.) Drafting Styles: Import and export Drafting Styles for use in other drawings. Create custom Drafting Style presets that include custom colors and line weights. (video: 1:40 min.) Drafting Grid: Apply or remove a Drafting Grid to a drawing. Create and delete Drafting Grids and edit the placement of standard units. (video: 2:30 min.)
